Welcome to the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners website. We are folks who enjoy the hills and hollows, the backwoods roads and trails and the magic found running the mountains of West Virginia. The WVMTR has members across West Virginia and from surrounding states. We are runners of all interests, from 5 mile trail runs to ultraruns and even the occasional road race. Come join us for a run.

The second generation WVMTR website was launched April 1, 2008. The goal was to incorporate the feel of our original site with the new features and interactive ability of WordPress. In January 2009 an updated version of WP was installed that makes posting to Club News and other pages easier.

Much thanks goes to supreme webguy Dan Todd for the many hours he spent developing the site and repairing things I continue to break. The look and format have gone through several configurations. Some pages are still under construction and others in the works. Feel free to contact us with comments or questions. Here is a layman’s review of some terminology.

Register, Subscribe, Login, Post, sounds complicated, but it is really not difficult if take your time to work through the process. It is not necessary to become a Subscriber to surf the WVMTR website, however registering as a Subscriber is the first step in gaining access so you to can post to the site.

To Subscribe click Register under Tools, enter a username and your email address. You will very soon receive an alpha-numeric password in your email, (there may be a glitch with those using yahoo.com email, however we can work through it). Use the alpha-numeric password for your initial Login. Then go to Profile and change your password to something you will remember. As a Subscriber you may add a comment to other’s posts, but in order to post you must set up your site access. We are anxious for club members to contribute to wvmtr.org. If you want to write about an event, talk about your favorite gear or host a fun run contact Daniel Todd to establish your site access. On the Club News page see Dan Todd’s Mar 30, 2008 How To Use This New WVMTR Site.

Club News tab displays an evolving list of run reports, running news, gear reviews, planned training runs etc posted by members. Club News is not intended to replace the Club Yahoo Newsgroup that is still operational for less formal talk. To be able to post or comment to the site you will need to go through the registration steps above.

Members tab displays information relevant to WVMTR members. You will see some of the links are Protected. You will be prompted for a password to view these. If you do not  have it or forgot it drop an email to mailto:wvmtr@verizon.net.
