The event was low-key (just like it has historically been), but this was the first year to my knowledge that it was not technically a FA and officially a supported “race”. Mike Dolin did a great job in his RD-ing debut and provided a great venue, plenty of race and post-race goodies, and even some great schwag courtesy of The North Face for those tackling the 50K distance. Be sure to mark this one on your calendars for next year. Kanawha State Forest offers some great trails that are well maintained, runable, and usually snow-free in the winter. So come out next year to get a 50K under your belt to work off some of the holiday chub!– Casseday
