3 Days of Syllamo

Dan and I made the trip down to AR last week to run the 3 Days of Syllamo race.  Although we had planned the trip as a respite to winter weather, we were greeted in AR by temperatures in the 30’s and even a few snow flurries.  We had an awesome time camping, running, and sharing the trails with lots of great folks in the Ozarks.  This area was very hard hit by this winter’s ice storms and most of the trails were decimated by downfalls and debris.  Race director Steve Kirk had his work cut out for him (literally) and he did a great job putting this race together with the limited trails open.  The race was full of plenty of hills, rocks, and creek crossings as advertised.   This is a really great race and I would highly recommend it.  Check out the results here and the website here.  More WVMTR’s will have to join us next year!

Adam and Dan, Did not know you all were running this stage run. You both did great. From reading the website, it was one tough three days. Congratulations to you both. You cerainly represented West Virginia well. Rick

Thanks Rick. Yes the elevation was deceiving. I still question my Garmin but it recorded climb of 8000′ for the 42k and 12,000′ for the 50 mile.

Thanks as well Rick. The race was tons of fun. I was very happy to run a 50M PR the day after 42K. If we head back next year, maybe you can plan to join us.
