A Highlands Sky trail clean up day is planned for May 2nd. We will meet at the Laneville Wildlife cabin at 8:00am. With the new Wilderness status of Roaring Plains West and Dolly Sods North comes the added adventure of hand tools only, no more chain saws. So it’s axes, brushhooks and crosscut saws. A few folks are taking a crosscut training and safety class next week with the Forest Service to be certified to use the old whip saws.
Your help would be appreciated. Give a little back to the Mon and earn service hours required for so many races.

Those girls and boys and men and women will be on the run this May 9th on a new 5K course in Mill Creek, WV. We’d love to see lots of trail runners out there on the streets for a day. The race is open to anyone who wants to run (or walk) and volunteers are always welcome too, of course!
WVMTR will be timing the race and the club’s shiny-new finish line clock will be making it’s debut performance.

Katie Kuba is a 26 year old runner from Buckhannon who competed on her high school and later college track teams. A year ago sickness came into her life when she was diagnosised with Crohn’s disease. Katie had a long year getting her illness under control. Now she is inspired to give back to the foundation that helped her. Katie will be running her first 13.1 miler this July at the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon for Team Challenge.
Read more of Katie’s Story and help if you are able.
Some of you know her dad Mike who runs roads and trails around Buckhannon and often runs sweep at Highlands Sky.

WVMTR board member and wicked fast runner, Joel Wolpert, designed this wonderful resource and marketing tool for our club. This rack card will be passed out at most upcomming trail events to promote WVMTR and trail running in WV. If you would like to print the card for distribution or to hang it on the fridge download this PDF copy - WV Trail Races (LARGE FILE). Let’s all give Joel a big virtual round of applause. Thanks Joel.
