Watoga Weekend

View from Ann Bailey tower
Kadra and I were down at Watoga this weekend scouting out some trails for the camping weekend on 7/31-8/2. All I can say is that you better not miss out on some sweet running! I was thoroughly impressed with the trails and especially with the Beaver Creek Campground. The campground is top notch and there are tons of other outdoor recreation opportunities aside from running.
I have an approximate 20 mile loop around Watoga State Park laid out for Saturday and I already scared away most of the bears this weekend. I saw the trifecta in one run; bear, deer, and turkey.
Be sure to check out all of the weekend details here.
New for ’09
The Buckley Mountain Massacre

When?: Early Sunday Morning (0600)….an unprecidented second run!
Where?: Allegheny Trail
Who’s Invited?: Anyone still standing
Plan: Shuttle north on Beaver Creek Road to where the Allegheny Trail enters the woods. We’ll run back to the campground (+/- 15 miles) covering some of the most rugged, remote, and awesome trails WV can throw at you. No aid and no whining!
