Come Run Through The Night!

Don’t miss out on being part of the second annual Cheat Mountain Moonshine Madness 50 Mile Trail Run. We still have room for more runners and volunteers! We have some awesome Patagonia shorts as finisher’s awards, local artisan crafted bark baskets for overall/AG winners, great prizes from our sponsors, and a new special trophy for the best all around aid station. Who could ask for more? Entry closes on 8/14, so be sure to enter soon.
I will be hosting an informal training run on the top trail sections of the course on 8/8. We will meet at 8:00 am in Beverly behind the Citizen’s bank and carpool up the mountain. All runners, club members, or anyone else are welcome to attend. Just e-mail me here if you are interested. Lots of fun, be sure not to miss out!
Adam does a supper job with this race and certainly one you do not want to miss. Nothing like running through the night and into the morning for at least me. Some fast ones finish in the dark. If you have never run a race in the dark, don’t sweat this one. No problems with markings at all. Great start/finish area with wonderful food and hot showers. Top notch aid stations and great volunteers to take care of our every whim. This will mark the second year for this race and also my second time. Well worth my seven hours of driving to get to Beverly. Rick
Thanks for the kind words Rick. Looking forward to seeing you here in a few weeks.

Adam, You are so welcome. Just to tell you how much I look forward to your race, I am on the organization committee for my 30th high school reunion the same weekend as your race. As I live in my home town, Johnson City is where the reunion is taking place. Guess where I am going? I know I will miss the reunion’s Friday night festivities, but hopefully I will be able to see some people Saturday night. Just think, drive up 7 hours on Friday, run 50 miles starting at 9:00pm Friday night, finish Saturday morning, shower, eat, socialize, drive back home 7 hours and then go socialize some more (if I am still awake and moving). You and your volunteers just take care of us. I have no desire to not be a part of your wonderful event. Thank you, Rick
Wow! You are tough as nails Rick. I’m honored that you think enough of the race to sqeeze it into your weekend. Make sure you’ve got some extra caffeine pills for the drive home!
– Adam
I don’t know about as tough as nails, but all of this will certainly add some excitement to my life. My running kit is already supplied with a supply of caffeine pills, so I am ready!!! Rick
interested to know if any of the runners are charting their 1st 50 miler at you race?????
I have the honor to carve my 1st 50, Adam at your race,..I am quite nervous—yikes!!!!!!!!
John, there are actually several first time ultra runners that will be running Friday (not even a 50K!). You’ll do fine! The darkness will slow you down and keep you from going out too fast, while the cool mountain air at 4000′ will keep you comfortable.
