Robin Update 9-9-09
Our friend Robin….With each day, comes a slight improvement.
Today they removed the “bolt” from her head that was helping to relieve the pressure and also the main breathing tube she has had since Saturday. She is breathing mostly on her own now aided only by a smaller tube. By the end of the week we hope to report even more progress as they continue to wean her off the meds to allow her to remain awake longer. She is very fortunate to have had no other injuries to her body and because she is in such excellent physical condition, the healing may be a little faster.
I have placed in her room a “healing journal” for those who visit to write their well wishes in. It should be on the table next to the outside window OR in the top right hand drawer. If time allows, please read aloud to her the comments others have written along with your own. This verbal stimulation is what she needs at this time and it will become a legacy reminder of how much her family and friends really care for her ~ perhaps even those who don’t really know her that well.
She is in bed #12 of STICU at CAMC General and right now they will only allow visitors at a time. Visiting hours are:
11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
9:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
I will continue to check on her and will bring you any updates as they become remarkable.
