West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners

Saturday February 9, 2013 we’ll gather in Thomas at Mt State Brewing for this mid-winter tradition. Many stayed at the Blackwater Falls cabins last year. The new North Side (deluxe) cabins are large with 4 bedrooms 2 baths and all the modern stuff, the South Side cabins are more rustic, secluded and very nice as well.

The exact direction we’ll run is yet to be decided, but we’ll start from MSB at 9am. There will be various length distances to run. We’ll collect $5 each for pizza, feel free to bring some snacks for the table, beverages of course will be on tap. Don’t forget to ask Willie for a tour of the new brewery equipment!

The early arrivals Jan 2012

Our Annual Meeting will be on January 12, 2013 at Lehmann’s in Helvetia. We’ll go for a run at 10am followed by lunch and a meeting.  Bring something for the table.  Drop a note to irunwv@gmail if you can make it or need directions.

Just a heads up to anyone planning on running the frozen sasquatch trail race. The Early bird registration ends November 16th, and then goes up $10.

The 2012 edition was the final year of Cheat Mountain.  I have enjoyed the five years directing the race and I appreciate all the support from the club, volunteers, sponsors, and runners – none if it would have been possible without you.  Retiring the race is bittersweet, but I plan on refocusing my energy toward the Trilogy and further responsibilities at Highlands Sky.

I will miss seeing all of the “regulars” each August at the 4-H camp.  There are many great memories that we all take with us from over the years, but there are many more to be made.  We at WVMTR look forward to continuing to producing top-notch events for years to come!
