The West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners held its' first organizational meeting and adopted bylaws on January 4, 2003 in Helvetia, WV.  On that date there were nineteen Charter Members.  Many were old running friends, while others were new acquaintances.  The idea of forming the WVMTR actually began in 1999, but like many notions, it took a while to become a reality.  West Virginia roots are far reaching. Our members are from across the Mountain State as well as surrounding states.

The objective of the club is to encourage running and the healthy, positive qualities running encompasses.  We do this by holding races, non-competitive club runs, social events, assisting other organizations with running events, and in general just running around having fun.  We are a non-profit organization and are affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America.

Current Board of Directors are Dan Lehmann President, Mark Flood Vice President, Daniel Todd Secretary, Gary Smith Treasurer.  Meetings are at a minimum quarterly and oddly coincide with a run of some sort.  Membership is open to any interested runner.

Your membership and running company is welcome
