A beautiful weekend at Seneca Rocks. This is the annual WVMTR weekend of running on the North Fork Mountain Trail.

The North Fork Mountain Trail is a 24 mile trail. The only trail access, except for the ends is an old, winding, firetower road around mile 12. This is the only place for food and water access, so you need to plan your water and food carefully. Continue Reading »

Several folks from the MD contingent of WVMTR are doing a training run on the Highlands Sky course on Saturday, May 17th. We plan to follow the HS course from the start to about mile 19 and then run back down the hill to our cars at the start. We’ll be camping at Seneca Shadows for the weekend. If you’re not already running or volunteering at Dirty Dog or MMT, consider joining us for the training run.

I wasn’t trying to go for a night run. But it had been a super busy day at work, and Joel was gone to an evening meeting, and I wasn’t really all that hungry. So when I finished my second job (baking bagels) by 7:00pm and still had the urge to throw on the running shoes and head for the door, I did not hold back.
Out the door by 7:30, in this week just past the solstice and already well into Daylight Savings Time, there was still light in the sky. I’d just go for a few miles, just to stretch out the legs. Continue Reading »

Saturday morning was sunny and cool, a perfect spring running day. Seven runners showed at Laneville, the start of the Highlands course. After a quick photo and course plan we started out. As we headed out local Woodstock, VA ultra legend Andy Peterson drove in……go ahead I’ll catch up he hollers.
