Trail Work & Training Run Weekend
Highlands Sky 40M
Monongahela National Forest & Canaan Valley State Park
May 5th-6th, 2018
The trail work and training run weekend is on May 5th-6th, 2018. This is a great opportunity to see the course before race day and get some quality trail time for your training. The trail work also is essential maintenance of the trail for WVMTR (and all) to use. This weekend is free for all. It is not necessary to help Saturday with the trail work to attend the trainer on Sunday, but help is appreciated and it’s fun! Please complete this form if you plan to attend.
The trail work day is on Saturday at 8:00 am. Meet at the race start, which may be found on the Directions page. We will break into groups and work trails from mile 2 to mile 18. Trail work includes collecting trash, trimming thorny and briery bushes, and cutting fallen limbs lying across the trail. No powered tools are permitted, only handheld tools loppers, sven folding saw, or just your hands, and bring gloves.
The training run occurs on Sunday at 8:00 am. Meet at the race start, which may be found on the Directions page. There are two loops available: a 21 mile loop and a 14 mile loop.
Camping is available for free at Matt Young’s property near the race start. Other options are free camping anywhere in the Monongahela National Forest, and in the Wilderness Areas, but must be at least 300 feet off the road.
